A collision between a motorcyclist and semi-truck sent the motorcyclist to the hospital early Tuesday morning during the weekday work and school commute, the Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District said.
Citrus Heights Police and Sac Metro Fire emergency crews responded to reports of the collision Tuesday after 7 a.m. and arrived to find one driver with moderate injuries, and approximately 50 gallons of diesel fuel spilled in the roadway. City staff were notified and helped assist in cleaning the roadway.
The northbound lanes of San Juan Avenue at Westgate Drive were closed for about an hour while the roadway was cleared of vehicles and the spill, police advised. Officers also discovered a power pole had been damaged during the collision, resulting in low hanging electrical wires.
SMUD was contacted and repaired the damaged pole.
The cause of the collision is still being investigated. The condition of the motorcyclist was not immediately known.
