By Sara Beth Williams–
The Citrus Heights City Council is expected on Wednesday to issue several proclamations recognizing public safety and public works professionals, consider multiple infrastructure and public safety-related agreements, and conduct a public hearing regarding proposed Gateway Activation Project amendments. The City Council will meet Wednesday, May 13, at 6 p.m. at Citrus Heights City Hall, following a 5 p.m. closed session.

Proclamations: The City Council plans to issue several proclamations recognizing important community causes and professional contributions at Wednesday’s meeting. These include proclamations recognizing May 2026 as “Building & Safety Month,” May 17-23 as “National Public Works Week,” and May 11-16 as “National Police Week.” The council will also receive a presentation from the Mesa Verde High School Student Council.

Consent Calendar: As part of the consent calendar, the City Council is slated to consider several items related to infrastructure improvements, grant funding, financial oversight and public safety technology. These include receiving and filing the Quarterly Treasurer’s Report for the quarter ending March 31; authorizing additional work and increasing the construction budget for the 2025 Road Resurfacing Project with Valley Slurry Seal International, Inc.; and approving additional work and budget increases for the Auburn Boulevard Complete Streets, Phase 2 Project with George Reed, Inc.

The council will also consider final acceptance of the Dewey Drive and Van Maren Lane Enhancement Project, approving additional grant funding applications through the Sacramento Area Council of Governments 2026 federal funding programs, and authorizing a five-year agreement with Axon Enterprise for purchase and implementation of an integrated public safety technology platform. Administrative amendments to the City Council Handbook are also slated for consideration.

Items in the consent calendar are voted on as a block unless a councilmember pulls a specific item to vote on separately.

Public Hearing: The City Council is expected to hear and consider approval of amendments connected to the Gateway Activation Project, including updates to the Bikeway Master Plan, Pedestrian Master Plan and General Plan Bikeway Map. The council will also consider adoption of a mitigated negative declaration and mitigation monitoring plan related to the project. The agenda item is listed as a public hearing.

Red-light camera enforcement agreement: The City Council is slated to hear and consider approving a three-year agreement with Verra Mobility for continued operation, maintenance and administration of the city’s red-light camera enforcement program, with the option for two additional one-year renewals.

America’s 250 anniversary mural: The City Council is also expected to consider authorizing Citrus Heights Arts to proceed with planning and installation of an ‘America’s 250th anniversary’ mural at City Hall, along with allocating community support funding to assist with installation costs for the mural.
