Citrus Heights Police arrested a drug dealer suspect and seized over 16 pounds of narcotics during a recent major drug bust operation, officials said Thursday.
Detectives with the Citrus Heights Police Department’s IMPACT Unit recently concluded an investigation into the trafficking and sale of fentanyl and other narcotics in Citrus Heights and surrounding communities, where 13.2 pounds of suspected fentanyl, 3.2 pounds of suspected cocaine, $50,000 in U.S. currency, one firearm, and additional evidence associated with the trafficking and distribution of narcotics was seized.
During the investigation, IMPACT Detectives identified a suspect believed to be responsible for distributing “large quantities of narcotics throughout Citrus Heights and surrounding jurisdictions,” police said in a press release. Using evidence gathered during the investigation, detectives obtained search warrants for the suspect’s home and a storage unit
located in Sacramento County, where they discovered the 16.4 pounds of drugs, firearm and associated money.
According to the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), only two milligrams of fentanyl can be a potentially lethal dose, authorities said, emphasizing the “significant threat” that such a large amount of fentanyl poses to the community.
“Based on that benchmark, the 13.2 pounds of fentanyl seized represents approximately 3 million potentially lethal doses,” police said.
The suspect was arrested and booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on numerous felony narcotics related charges. The suspect’s name was not released.
“This investigation demonstrates the Citrus Heights Police Department’s continued commitment to proactively identifying and disrupting individuals involved in the distribution of fentanyl and other dangerous drugs,” police said. “The IMPACT Unit will continue working to remove dangerous narcotics from our community and hold those responsible for their distribution accountable.”
