This year’s midterm election will feature a crowded race for the Los Rios Community College District’s Area 2 seat, following the retirement of longtime Trustee Robert Jones after 20 years on the board. Area 2 represents Citrus Heights, Orangevale, Fair Oaks, and Carmichael.
Dr. Oranit Limmaneeprasert: A retired American River College professor, and former faculty union leader. Endorsed by the Los Rios College Federation of Teachers.
Mark Gregg: Sacramento-born business owner, husband, father, and regional homebuilder
Paula Villescaz: Currently serves as Deputy Legislative Affairs Secretary in the Office of the Governor, former San Juan Unified School District Board member from 2016-2024.
Tim Loree: A retired business owner. Loree also previously served as a board member for the Los Rios Community College Board of Trustees in the early 2000s.
Martin Ross: A non-profit executive. Ross has previously run for the San Juan Unified School District Board of Education.
Sukdip “Steve” Chima: Listed as a parent in the official County candidate report. No campaign website was able to be found listing more information.
Phil Davis: Retired former Assistant Fire Chief for the UC Davis Fire Department and Deputy Fire Chief of the Cosumnes Fire Department. Davis also served as an adjunct faculty member at multiple colleges, appointed to the California Emergency Medical Services Commission, where he served as vice chair. Davis also served as Director of Emergency Services for the American Red Cross Capital Region Chapter and spent a decade on the American River College Foundation Board.

- A new humanities hub, STEM and Fine Arts building expansions, and an upgrade to the campus’s Public Safety Center at American River College
- The addition of a new dedicated cultural center, expansion of athletic facilities, and creating function outdoor learning spaces at Folsom Lake College,
- A technology building, more affordable student housing, and childcare and stadium upgrades at Consumnes River College
- Renovating or constructing a new dedicated space for performing arts, and modernization of physical fitness facilities at Sacramento City College.
- District-wide upgrades, including critical safety and infrastructure upgrades such as removing asbestos and lead piping, and repairing roofing. Additionally, security and classroom technology upgrades are planned, including adding new campus monitoring systems and upgrading computer labs.
The Los Rios Community College District is governed by a seven-member Board of Trustees elected to four-year terms and a non-voting student trustee.
