One woman was arrested Thursday afternoon after police suspect she caused a multi-vehicle collision at Auburn Boulevard and Van Maren Lane shortly after noon.
Sgt. Dave Jones said officers were dispatched to the scene after reports of a multi-vehicle collision and arrived at the scene to find four drivers involved in the collision. Two drivers were diagnosed with minor injuries. All drivers involved in the collision were licensed and insured, according to police.
One driver, identified as 23-year-old Tiffany Mordin, was suspected of driving under the influence of alcohol and was transported to a hospital, Jones said. Officers authored and obtained approval for a warrant to conduct a blood test, and Mordin was subsequently arrested on suspicion of felony DUI.
Investigators determined Mordin was the sole party at fault in the collision, Jones said. However, officers are continuing to investigate other factors surrounding the crash, including whether a red-light violation occurred.
Mordin had been traveling northbound on Van Maren Lane and was turning westbound onto Auburn Boulevard, Jones said. The collision was captured on traffic cameras, and investigators are reviewing the footage as part of the ongoing investigation.
Two officers involved in the investigation were formerly assigned to the department’s motor unit, Jones said.
Jones also said Mordin had previously been arrested in connection with a separate DUI collision in Rancho Cordova in February. Sacramento County Jail records show Mordin was in custody in February and released on Feb. 25.
The Citrus Heights Police Department’s investigation into the collision remains ongoing.
“The Citrus Heights Police Department would like to remind citizens that buzzed driving is drunk driving. If you are drinking, don’t get behind the wheel, call a friend, or a rideshare,” Jones said. “Drive sober. Make the responsible choice. Get to where you’re going safely.”
