Residents in the area of Sunrise Boulevard and Old Auburn Road reported hearing heavy police activity with sirens just after 2 a.m. Friday as officers responded to a call from a resident who said someone was trying to break in.
Citrus Heights Police Sgt. David Jones told The Sentinel by phone Saturday that the caller was “frantic” and reported their house was being broken into, with someone was knocking on their front door in the middle of the night. Shortly after, Jones said police received an additional call about an individual knocking on doors and ringing doorbells near Oak Avenue.
Officers responded to the area, but found no evidence of forced entry at the first caller’s home. Jones said the male individual involved was located sometime after 2 a.m., but was released after being detained and identified.
“It was determined that no crime had existed at that time, however he was creating a disturbance in the neighborhood,” Jones said.
A report on social media later the same day said an adult male was walking up to residential homes around 5 p.m. near Twin Oaks Avenue and Crestmont Avenue, but Jones said the individual shown in the social media post was not connected to the two prior incidents in the early morning hours.
Jones said the suspect in the afternoon incident was identified as Daniel Tomas Trujillo, and taken into custody. Arrest records from the Sacramento County Jail show Trujillo was booked at 7:41 p.m. on misdemeanor willful violation of an order related to domestic violence. His bail is set at $5,000.
