Sentinel staff report–
Members and staff of SAFE Credit Union, including two Citrus Heights branches, contributed gifts for 270 children and families during the holiday season, according to a Jan. 5 news release from the credit union.

As part of the credit union’s annual Joy & Kindness campaign, SAFE collaborated with the Salvation Army’s annual Angel Tree initiative. Angel Trees in 20 SAFE Credit Union branches facilitated tag selections by employees and members, with tags providing crucial information like age, clothing sizes, and gender, guiding contributions to children in need.

Participants then brought back unwrapped gifts and placed them in bags marked with the child’s name. The total value of gifts exceeded $7,500, according to SAFE Credit Union.

Derek Gore, Manager of the Sunrise Avenue SAFE Branch in Citrus Heights, said one business member had taken three tags and noted the effort was “close to his heart,” since the member hadn’t received any Christmas gifts as a child.
