A new SONIC drive-in restaurant opened on Monday, marking the business’s first location to operate in Citrus Heights.
The restaurant, located at 5873 Antelope Rd. at the corner of Roseville Road, will give residents a chance to enjoy its menu of burgers, hot dogs, limeades, and slushes without leaving town. The eatery will operate daily from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m.
On a visit on Tuesday, Sentinel staff found the parking lot packed and drive thru for the restaurant already full of customers.
Owned and operated by Elite Drive-Ins, the new location will provide more than 45 jobs for local residents according to a Sept. 11 press release. Those interested in applying can visit the restaurant’s Careers page.
Franchise owner CJ Dhaliwal, who lives in the area, said the opening has special meaning for him and his family.
“As local residents with deep ties to this brand, we’re so excited to bring SONIC’s craveable and iconic menu to our Citrus Heights neighbors,” Dhaliwal said in the media release. “We’re very passionate about offering not only great food, but also a great customer experience.”
The restaurant features SONIC’s updated look and includes seven drive-in stalls for guests plus a drive-thru lane, Orders can also be placed online or through the SONIC App.
In addition to its menu, SONIC supports public schools by donating a portion of proceeds from every drink, slush, and shake purchase to classroom projects nationwide. The program has raised more than $27 million since 2009 according to the company’s website.
The Citrus Heights opening marks the fourth SONIC location in the greater Sacramento region.
