The San Juan Alumni Association is hosting an all-class picnic at Rusch Park this October. The event is open to all San Juan High School alumni, students, and past and present faculty.
The free event will take place on Oct. 11 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and take place in the west end of the park. The picnic is held every two years. This year’s picnic will include entertainment from the San Juan High School band and cheerleaders, dance groups, and more, according to the Alumni Association’s event page. Food and drink will be available for purchase.
In 2023, the Alumni Association gave away raffle prizes, with proceeds going toward the association, which provides scholarships to seniors.
The alumni association has hosted an all-class reunion picnic for at least thirty years, according to SJAA representative Rich Giusti, class of 65. Giusti said in 2023 that the picnic used to be hosted at Fair Oaks Park, but have since relocated to Rusch Park.
At the last picnic, the San Juan High School legacy exhibit was also on display. showcasing decades of the high school’s history. A permanent Legendary Exhibit was established in 2013 when the school reached its centennial anniversary, and more artifacts and memorabilia have been added in the years since.
