Voting is now open for the 2025 Best Lights in Citrus Heights annual holiday contest hosted by the City of Citrus Heights, that celebrates the best decorated homes in the city.

Residents can now vote on the list of homes nominated for various categories. Nominations took place during the first week of December and closed on Dec. 8. The list of homes on the city’s website includes photos for each home, along with an interactive map. Those interested can vote here.

The 2025 categories list includes annual favorites such as “Griswold,” which recognizes the brightest and most impactful display of shining lights. “Holiday Village,” which celebrates the best-decorated block or neighborhood, and “Santa’s Favorite,” which honors the house or display with the most outstanding overall appearance and decoration.

Several categories introduced last year are back again, including “Snow Globe,” which highlights the biggest and brightest inflatable display, “Sleigh the Theme,” which celebrates the display that tells the best cohesive story or presents a clear theme; and “Winter Wonderland,” which recognizes the chilliest display of icicles, white lights, and wintry themes.

This year, eight homes were nominated in the Griswold category and seven for the Sleigh the Theme category. Two streets were nominated in the Holiday Village category, and three houses were nominated in the Snow Globe category.

Santa’s Favorite category had the most nominations, with 11 homes up for the award. No homes were nominated in the Winter Wonderland category.

Orelle Creek Court, which is well known for having multiple houses decked out in lights and decorations, had two homes nominated, as did Karen Rae Court, which hosts an event each season to encourage residents to come view lights and decorations. Two homes were also nominated on Gold Oak Lane.

Last year’s winners included five individual houses from around the city along with one block of homes, with 8246 Moss Oak Drive and 7141 Cross Drive winning two years in a row in two different categories. As well, two homes on Karen Rae Court took home the Snow Globe award and Santa’s Favorite award.

Voting for the best lights display will run from Dec. 9-16.
