A new grocer remodeling one of the former Rite Aid buildings in Citrus Heights has officially hung its company name on the front facade of 5409 Sunrise Blvd., as it continues to progress toward an opening slated for the late spring of this year.
Grocery Outlet’s banner appeared on the front of the building last week as the parking lot, exterior, and interior, continue to undergo construction. A large portion of the parking lot is currently fenced off.
Mark Vieira with Tilton Pacific Construction confirmed in December that the new grocery store is anticipated to be ready to open in the late spring of 2026. Planned improvements include ADA upgrades, a new facade for the building, and more.
Since the shopping center’s revitalization in 2021 and 2022, the plaza has seen multiple new tenants, including Club Studio Fitness, and most recently, Pinkberry, Juice Time, and Nothing Bundt Cakes.
Since then, JOANN has also closed, and Amazon has recently announced a national closure of Amazon Fresh stores.
The former Rite Aid was the last of three Citrus Heights locations to close. The Rite Aid at 5409 Sunrise Blvd. closed in November 2023.
Grocery Outlet currently has another store in Citrus Heights, located at 6059 Greenback Ln. Grocery Outlets are all locally owned stores, which allows the grocer to deliver “superior customer service,” according to the company’s website.
