Sunday, March 15, will mark the last day for skating at Sunrise Rollerland, owners say.
In an email to customers, Sunrise Rollerland reported that the last skating session under Sunrise Rollerland ownership and management will be Sunday, March 15, from 7 to 9:15 p.m., after which the rink will temporarily close as it transfers ownership.
Tickets are first-come, first-serve, and expected to sell out, management said, adding that an online ticket purchase guarantees entry.
Tickets for the last skating session can be purchased here. Tickets for the final session are $8.50. for regular skate rental and $9.50 for inline skate rental.
According to a winter schedule posted on the rink’s entrance, several other skating sessions are taking place all weekend long, from March 12 through March 15. Scheduled sessions include:
- Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 9:15 p.m.,
- Friday from 4 to 6 p.m. and 7 to 10 p.m.,
- Saturday from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., 12 to 2:30 p.m., 2 to 4:30 p.m., and 7 to 10 p.m.
- Sunday from 12 to 2:30 p.m., 2 to 4:30 p.m., and the final session from 7 to 9:15 p.m.
Costs for sessions vary.
The Neutz family expressed its gratitude in its final skating session invitation, saying, “Thank you for 53 unforgettable years of birthday parties, school skate nights, first dates, and lifelong friendships. This community has meant everything to us.”
The iconic staple of the region has been sold to a new owner after having been listed for sale last year. Employees say the new owner plans to remodel. Current Management confirmed in its final skating session invitation that the rink will be closed temporarily during the transition process.
The remodel could take anywhere from three months to one year, current employees said last weekend, adding that some employees might stay, but many may find work elsewhere during the remodeling period.
Details of the remodel were not immediately known, but employees said things will be “moved around.”
Sunrise Rollerland owners did not respond to a phone call requesting comment regarding the transition in ownership.
