Two students on board school bus involved in collision

Tuesday afternoon, a San Juan Unified school bus was involved in a traffic collision on Antelope Road, near Sunrise Boulevard, the San Juan Unified School District confirmed Wednesday.

“Two students from Charles Peck Elementary School were on board at the time, and there are no reported injuries to students or staff,” said Raj Rai, Director of Communication with the San Juan Unified School District said in a statement.

The collision occurred after 3 p.m. and was handled by the California Highway Patrol, who handles any vehicle collisions that involve district transportation. Citrus Heights Police referred all questions to CHP.

A public information officer with CHP was not available to provide further information.

Parents of students on the bus were notified, and arrangements were made for student pick-up the district said, adding that law enforcement officers were on scene to support.

The cause of the collision is still under investigation, and information regarding the other party involved was not available.
