This spring is filled with family activities, outdoor concerts, volunteer opportunities, fundraisers, workshops and local gatherings. From garden sales and live music to civic events and community fundraisers, residents have a wide variety of opportunities for community engagement and fun.
Travel Show: The Citrus Heights Event Center will host a free travel show event on Wednesday, April 8, from 2 to 7 p.m. The event will feature travel vendors, cruise lines, tour operators and travel specialists available to answer questions, share brochures and offer booking opportunities for upcoming vacations. The Citrus Heights Event Center is located at 6300 Fountain Square Drive.
Backyard Bash concert series: Sunrise MarketPlace launched its inaugural outdoor spring concert series on Friday, April 3, and will host three events total, with the second on Friday, April 17 and third on May 1. The outdoor events are free, and will be located in the Marketplace at Birdcage, behind Jamba Juice, on Birdcage Centre Lane. For more information, visit the city’s calendar of events here.
Annual plant sale: Sylvan Ranch Community Garden will hold its annual plant sale from April 10 through April 12. The sale offers seasonal plants and garden selections for residents preparing spring gardens. The proceeds help to fund the community garden. Adult paint and sip night: Rusch Park Community Center will host an adult paint and sip night on Friday, April 10, from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Registration is available through the Sunrise Recreation and Park District events calendar website. Rusch Park Community Center is located at 7801 Auburn Blvd.
Classic Movie Friday: Sylvan Oaks Library will present Citizen Kane on Friday, April 10, from 1:30-3:30 p.m. in the Sylvan Oaks Meeting Room. Refreshments will be provided by the Friends of Sylvan Oaks Library. The event is free and part of a bi-monthly series of classic movie showings held every second Friday. Escape Room Adventure: Single Mom Strong will host an Escape Room Adventure at Quandary Escape Adventures on Saturday, April 11. The event is designed as a community outing and support activity for participating families. For more information, visit the city’s calendar of events here.
Veterans Family Picnic: American Legion Post 637 will host a free Veterans Family Picnic on Saturday, April 18 at Rusch Community Park. The picnic is intended for active service members, veterans, and their families. The picnic is free and will last from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., with food, entertainment and kids activities, and resources for veterans.

Chip In Day volunteer event: Citrus Heights staff will host the annual Chip In Day volunteer event on Earth Day, Wednesday, April 22, at Citrus Heights City Hall. Volunteers will help spread bark and plant flowers in civic planter areas from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tools will be provided, and participants are encouraged to wear appropriate shoes and bring gloves. Water and pizza lunch will also be provided.

Drug Take Back Day: The Citrus Heights Police Department will participate in DEA National Prescription Drug Take Back Day on Saturday, April 25, providing residents an opportunity to safely dispose of unused medications. Residents can drop off medication between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m.. Liquid medications are not accepted. For more information, visit the city’s calendar of events here.

Volunteer open house: The Citrus Heights Event Center will host a volunteer open house on Tuesday, April 28, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. for anyone interested in learning about assisting with Event Center activities. The event is free. For more information, visit the city’s calendar of events here.
