A Sacramento man was arrested Sunday night following what Citrus Heights Police described as a months-long investigation into child sexual abuse material.
Police said the case began earlier this year when one of the department’s graveyard patrol officers initiated an investigation after receiving a cyber-tip related to child sexual abuse material, often referred to as CSAM
After investigation, officers arrested 40-year-old Jorge Farfan, of Sacramento, Sunday night, without incident, police said. Sacramento County Main Jail records show Farfan is still in custody and was charged with felony distribution of child pornography, and felony possession of child pornography. Farfan’s bail is set at $30,000.
“CSAM investigations are complex, but they are not anonymous crimes,” the department said in a statement. “Digital evidence leaves a trail, and our investigators are committed to following it wherever it leads.”
Police added that crimes involving the exploitation of children remain among the most serious cases handled by investigators and will continue to be a priority.
“Online doesn’t mean anonymous,” the department said.
