A man kicked out of a local restaurant at closing confessed to vandalizing the windows Friday night, Citrus Heights Police say.
Late night vandalism resulted in thousands of dollars in damage to a local fast food restaurant in Citrus Heights on Friday night, Citrus Heights police say.
The incident occurred just after 10 p.m. Friday at a McDonald’s located near the intersection of Auburn Boulevard and Greenback Lane. Police said restaurant staff had closed the dining room around 10 p.m. when they encountered a man sleeping inside the business. After being asked to leave, the man became upset but excited the restaurant.
Once outside, he threw rocks through the windows of the restaurant, shattering multiple panes of glass.
Officers were dispatched to the scene following reports of the vandalism. When they arrived, they found significant damage to the building’s windows totaling an estimated $8,000. The windows were boarded up Saturday morning. No employees or patrons were injured during the incident.
With the help of restaurant staff, police identified and located the suspect walking about a block away from the restaurant shortly after the incident. According to Citrus Heights Police Sgt. Ryan Smith, the man admitted to throwing the rock and confessed to the crime, stating he was upset after being woken up and asked to leave.
Authorities identified the suspect as Keitan Green-Young. He was taken into custody and booked on felony vandalism charges. Sacramento main jail records show Green-Young was released from jail on Saturday.
