The latest Letters to the Editor discuss opinions on vote count security measures in California, and AI mural concept designs.
Citrus Heights residents invited to vote on City Hall mural design: I am a resident of Citrus Heights. The designs offered for the mural design all appear to be AI-generated. Would it be so difficult to commission a real artist to come-up with a design? All four options presented look jarring and awful and I hate to see my tax dollars go toward putting such an ugly mural in my city that I’ll be forced to look at. We can do better than this

Voting: Many who, either by mail or in person, do not realize that the way votes are counted uses a double-entry accounting system. I have run voting centers. At the close of each day, votes are counted at the center and then again at Registrar’s office. If everything does not balance, the registrar call the voting center with needs for clarification. Our elections are not rigged. Things can be improved to speed up final counting. Otherwise, California has a very good system. Many say that Colorado is perhaps the best.
