A new indoor trampoline park geared towards kids and families has now opened its doors after a month-long delay due to unexpected vandalism.
FunCity Adventure Park on Auburn Boulevard in Citrus Heights opened its doors one week ago with the help of multiple large generators, after the back of the building’s electrical system was significantly vandalized.
Additionally, FunCity’s website for its Citrus Heights location is now live, where guests can book and purchase party packages and free play passes.
Employees and one of the owners say that reception of the new adventure park has been positive from customers and that business has been good, and weekend party bookings are starting to pick up.
Multiple two-story-high play structures take up half of the building, along with several shelving units for customer belongings.
The park includes a play area with multiple pieces of play equipment, including multiple slides, a zipline, swings, trampolines, obstacle courses, a swinging bridge, and climbing structures such as a transparent climbing structure, a cube climbing structure, a climbing wall, and more.
Another section of the play area includes a bubble soccer field, a skyline climbing course, a large ball pit, a foam ball pit, a dodgeball field, “ninja” and “Super Mario” courses, and trampoline obstacle courses.
Additionally, there are eight party rooms, a common area with multiple tables for guests, and an arcade, along with restrooms, a break room, and a reception area with cubbies.
According to their website, jump passes are available in 1.5-hour, 2-hour, and 3-hour passes, and prices vary depending on age. Toddler pass ranges from $18-$25 depending on length of time of the pass, and regular jump passes range from $24-$32. Socks are required and can be purchased on site.
Party packages are also available, and the costs begin at $300 for a 2-hour party for 10 jumpers if booked during the week. Prices for parties vary depending on how many jumpers are included and whether the party is being booked on a weekend or during the week.
In an interview with the adventure park’s manager last week, The Sentinel was told the company had prepared to open for over a year and had been a victim of vandals, and the situation was out of their control.
As over 20 employees showed up to work on Monday, June 8, to prepare for a soft opening of the trampoline park, the workers discovered there was no power to the building.
The building’s electrical system was severely vandalized, with $90,000 worth of copper wire stolen from the electrical box, Citrus Heights Police confirmed. The manager said the thieves “cleaned everything out” and shared pictures of wires having been severed and the electrical box having been stolen off the wall.
Citrus Heights Police confirmed that the crime was reported on June 8 and took place sometime the weekend before.
Next door, Doug Stabler, who owns 8501 and 8509 Auburn Blvd., confirmed the damages occurred to the electrical boxes that impact the entire building and that both his insurance company and the insurance company that owns the second half of the building where FunCity resides are working together to evaluate and initiate repairs to the electrical system. Stabler relayed that the last estimate he received indicated that the vandalism and theft resulted in $300,000 in damages.
The new adventure trampoline park is located at 8525 Auburn Blvd., in the building that formerly housed Big Lots.
