Events happening around Citrus Heights during August include community meetings, live theater, fundraisers, family activities, outdoor gatherings and opportunities to volunteer.
Mesa Verde Football Team fundraiser: A fundraiser benefiting the Mesa Verde High School football team will take place Saturday, Aug. 1, at Maverick Muscle, located at 7501 Carriage Drive. The event will include a car and bike show, and trophies and goodie bags will be given out to show participants. The fundraiser will also include food trucks, vendors, raffles and a silent auction.

Madagascar. Royal Stage theater is presenting the children’s production of Madagascar beginning July 31 and running through Aug. 2. National Night Out: Each year, the city celebrates National Night Out on the first Tuesday of August. Citrus Heights Police confirm there are currently 11 registered National Night Out events. Community meeting: Sacramento County Supervisor Rosario Rodriguez will host a quarterly community meeting Wednesday, Aug. 5, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Citrus Heights City Hall. City Hall is located at 6360 Fountain Square Drive. For more information, visit the city’s calendar of events here.
Local History: The Citrus Heights Historical Society will host a presentation titled “Mornings on Fair Oaks Bridge, Watching Wildlife at the Lower American River” on Thursday, Aug. 6, at 6 p.m. at Citrus Heights City Hall, located at 6360 Fountain Square Drive. Author Janice Kelley will read selections from her book and share photos and experiences about people, places and wildlife along the lower American River. Lunch at the Library: Sylvan Oaks Library will continue offering free lunches for youth ages 18 and younger Tuesday through Friday from noon to 1 p.m. The program runs through Aug. 7. Mom’s Day Out: Single Mom Strong will host “FLY – First Love Yourself Wellness Morning” Saturday, Aug. 15, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Wild and Fly Fitness. Foster kittens fundraiser: A Yoga with Kittens fundraiser will take place Saturday, Aug. 15, at 5948 Auburn Blvd., Suite F, in Citrus Heights. Juggers tryouts and team practice: Juggers will host tryouts and team practice at Rusch Community Park in Citrus Heights during August. There are three practices scheduled for July, August and September. Organizers say interested players will be required to demonstrate physical conditioning, teamwork, discipline, situational awareness and heart. Jugger is is a co-ed team sport combining elements of rugby, fencing, and capture-the-flag, where players use safe, foam-padded weapons (spars) to battle for a skull-shaped ball (jugg) and score in the opponent’s goal.
