The Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce is preparing to launch a new Business Watch Program in partnership with the City of Citrus Heights and the Citrus Heights Police Department, with the goal of strengthening communication among local businesses while promoting crime prevention.
Organizers say the program is intended to create a network of businesses that can share information, build relationships, and work together to address safety concerns and improve business resiliency.
According to the Chamber, Business Watch meetings will allow business owners, managers, property owners, and employees to connect directly with Chamber and City representatives and members of the Citrus Heights Police Department.
The meetings are expected to help provide updates on local crime trends, practical crime prevention strategies, and an opportunity for participants to discuss concerns affecting their commercial areas according to the Chamber. Organizers say the program is designed to encourage collaboration among businesses and public safety officials to identify and address issues impacting individual business districts.
“Our businesses are stronger when they are connected, not only to the Chamber and our Police Department, but to one another,” said Sheri Merrick, Director of the Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce in a press release this week. “Business Watch is about creating those connections before there is a problem.”
The Chamber is also seeking volunteers to serve as District Leaders. Those volunteers will act as the primary point of contact for their designated commercial district and help coordinate communication between businesses and program organizers. Individuals interested in serving in the role are encouraged to contact the Chamber for additional information.
Planned program features include crime prevention education, safety resources, networking opportunities with neighboring businesses, and collaboration with city departments on issues affecting the local business community. Organizers also hope the meetings will give participants a forum to identify common challenges and work together on potential solutions.
