A misunderstanding led to heavy police activity amid reports of a man with a gun inside of a business on Sylvan Road and Auburn Boulevard early Monday afternoon.
Citrus Heights Police said the situation involving a reported man with a gun was “a big misunderstanding,” and that there were no weapons recovered from the scene.
Just before 2 p.m. police received reports from a business located at Sylvan Corners in Citrus Heights, with a Sylvan Road address, that a man inside the business using a computer had a gun in his possession. Several officers responded to the scene and witnesses could hear and see a police helicopter circling the immediate area.
According to police radio scanner traffic the business was able to evacuate almost all of the employees without incident Police officers were able to help the remaining individuals leave once the situation warranted and did not indicate that the individuals were in danger.
The man suspected of having a weapon on him was detained for questioning without incident. A police department spokesperson said Monday afternoon that after clearing the interior of the building and investigating further, there were no weapons found. Police also confirmed that Sylvan Middle School, located across the street from the business, was not placed on lockdown.
No arrests were made and no injuries occurred, police said.
