Sunrise Recreation and Park District board members recently approved $4 million in capital improvement projects that are to take place throughout the park district in the next fiscal year.
During a special board meeting held this summer, 13 different line items in a capital improvement projects list were unanimously approved by the board.
Several of the upcoming projects taking place in Citrus Heights include the amphitheater planned for Rusch Park, for $1.5 million, a Rusch Park breezeway renovation project for $200,000, an HVAC system replacement at Rusch Park for $40,000, and pool renovations at Rusch and Antelope pool complexes, totaling $400,000.
Other projects listed at parks outside of Citrus Heights include, a pool heater replacement for $70,000, and court resurfacing for $89,000 at Antelope Community Park, and a $20,000 playground renovation at Pokelma Park.
The park district is also planning to construct a splash pad and picnic area at Foothills Community Park and has designated $200,000 for the construction drawings for the area, as well as $1.32 million for the construction of the splash pad and picnic area.
In the same July board meeting where the list of capital improvement projects was approved, Sunrise Recreation and Park District also unanimously approved contract bids for two of the planned projects including: a contract with Solano County Roofing, the selected bidder for the Rusch Community Park breezeway roof replacement project and a contract with Aqua Source, the selected bidder for the Antelope Aquatic Complex pool heater replacement project.
In June, the board approved Verde Design as the consultant selected to provide services for the Foothills Community Park Master Plan Update which includes planning and design services for the new Splash Pad and picnic area at the park.
Sunrise Recreation and Park District maintains over 40 parks and undeveloped open spaces throughout Citrus Heights, Antelope and Foothill Farms.
