A small shipping and mailbox store on Auburn Boulevard in Citrus Heights has closed without warning.
Allied Packaging and Shipping, located at 7250 Auburn Blvd., appears to have closed, with the interior completely cleared out as of Tuesday afternoon. The store provided customers with shipping, and 24-hour post office box services, among other miscellaneous services and had recently switched ownership in August 2025.
Another nearby shop said Tuesday afternoon that the store cleared out their possessions about two weeks ago. Another customer of the store confirmed Wednesday they were alerted by the business owner that the business has closed and not moved to a new location.
In a phone call Wednesday, former operator the business, Sandeep Gill, confirmed that 72500 Auburn Blvd. had closed. Gill purchased two shipping store locations, one on Lichen Drive and the other on Auburn Boulevard in October 2023. His current business, Just Send it Postal, located on Lichen Drive in the Railey’s shopping center, is still open and operational.
Gill reportedly sold the Auburn Boulevard shipping business last year to a regular customer of his due to the site having had a string of numerous break-ins over a year’s time, he said.
The Sentinel reported on multiple break-ins of the business that occurred in August 2024.
According to the United States Postal Service, when an independent mail shop closes, it is the private businesses responsibility to forward customer mail for at least 6 months.
After the 6-month forwarding period expires, or immediately if no forwarding address was on file, incoming mail goes back to the sender marked “Moved, Left No Address.”
If an independent mailing store with private mailboxes has abandoned the mail or refuses to comply, speak directly with a local USPS Post Office branch to see what local mail recovery or return options are available.
