Miller Ace Hardware in Citrus Heights was hit by a burglar overnight who stole around $8,000 worth of merchandise, police say.
The burglary occurred in the early hours of Tuesday morning, Oct. 27, and was caught on store security cameras. Police say there was only one suspect and that security camera footage helped them identify the thief.
Citrus Heights Police officers responded to the hardware store between 3 and 4 a.m., following reports of a break-in occurring and found thousands of dollars of merchandise stolen from the store’s back room.
After canvasing the area near the Ace Hardware, between 4:30 p.m. and 4:45 p.m., an officer on scene located the suspect hiding in bushes nearby the shopping complex, in possession of the stolen property. The male suspect was arrested on felony burglary charges.
Citrus Heights Police have not released the identity of the suspect at this time.
