Funeral for man killed in crash to be held at Sylvan Cemetery
A funeral will be held in Citrus Heights on Monday for the 45-year-old man killed in a collision last week with a driver who police say was under the influence of marijuana. According to news reports, Andrey Tagintsev, a resident of Citrus Heights, left behind a wife and four children after being fatally struck by a car that crashed over the center median while he was driving on Greenback Lane on Oct. 9. His family told KCRA that he will be remembered for his faith, devotion to his wife and children, and his love for singing.
Postings by friends and family on Tagintsev’s Facebook page state that a memorial service will be held this Sunday, Oct. 14, at 6 p.m. at Grace Avenue Bible Church in Sacramento, followed by a funeral service on Oct. 15 at 12:30 p.m., at Sylvan Cemetery in Citrus Heights. A GoFundMe page set up for the family has also raised over $14,000, as of Saturday evening.
Spooktacular draws large crowd to Antelope Crossing
The 10th annual Spooktacular festivities were held at the Raley’s shopping center off Antelope Road on Saturday, reportedly drawing a crowd of more than 2,000 people. Organizer Dale Covey told The Sentinel this year’s event drew the “biggest crowd ever,” with kids packing out popular carnival games, residents perusing through dozens of vendor booths, and more than 100 children participating in a popular costume contest. Covey said two new bikes, donated by 7-Eleven, were handed out to the winners of the scariest and most original costumes.
The annual event is sponsored by the City of Citrus Heights and the Antelope Crossing Business Association, which was formed in 2009 to help support and promote the two commercial and retail shopping centers located off Antelope Road at Interstate 80.
