The yard sale is held twice a year at 7620 Linden Ave., in Citrus Heights, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. The sales typically include appliances, musical instruments, clothing, camping gear, furniture, and a wide variety of other goods.
Proceeds from the band’s annual yard sales go directly to support the band, helping provide for items like uniforms, instruments and liability insurance, according to Band Director Kathy Cook.
The spring and fall yard sales are one of four general fundraisers the band organizes each year to help keep the band program free. Yard sales are typically held during the first two weekends in May, and again around Labor Day weekend each year. A spaghetti feed fundraiser is also held each March, and a ‘Howl-o-ween’ event is held in October.
The band has become known for its performances at community events around the region, annually playing at the Citrus Heights Tree Lighting ceremony and organizing a flash-mob at Walmart each December.
