Sentinel staff report– For those looking for some of the best Christmas light displays in Citrus Heights, here’s six of the top displays in town for 2020.
Karen Rae Ct. New to the list this year is a home at the corner of Wes Way and Karen Rae Court, which is lit up with creative displays spanning the entire corner — and both sides of the street. Displays include colorful lighting on fences, lawn areas, and trees, along with an inflatable arch over the pathway leading to the front door. Santa can also be seen in a hot air balloon mounted in the back of a pickup truck in the driveway.
Orelle Creek Ct. The annual displays on Orelle Creek Court are always a sure bet in Citrus Heights, where nearly every home on the entire street is annually decorated with thousands of multicolored lights, candy canes, manger scenes and more. The dead-end court is located off Old Auburn Road towards the Roseville border and draws a significant crowd of light-seekers each year.
Ansbrough Drive. A home at the corner of Ansbrough Drive and Winlock Avenue has decor and lights taking up an entire corner on a quiet residential street. The yard features huge inflatable holiday characters, motorized decor, tons of lights, and a large “Merry Christmas” sign mounted atop an inflatable arch. A Facebook page has also been set up for the display. (See page)
Westchester Way. Fans of the 49ers will enjoy a drive past 7053 Westchester Way, where the home features a creatively lit up San Francisco 49er-themed front yard light display.
Farmgate Way. A home at 7600 Farmgate Way features thousands of flashing lights in the yard and rooftop, Frozen characters, music, and plenty of Christmas spirit. The home is located at the corner of Mariposa Avenue and Farmgate.
Creekcrest Circle. Lighting displays at several homes on Creekcrest Circle, particularly 8324 Creekcrest, are also impressive, with inflatables, lights, angels, and more, viewable on the half-circle loop off Oakbrook Drive, near the Mercy San Juan Medical Center. While nearby, drop by Celtic Cross Presbyterian Church at 5839 Dewey Drive to see what may be the largest manger scene display in the city.
Those looking for a drive-through tour of the six locations listed, will find a loop through the city can be done in under an hour. An efficient route option is to begin at Farmgate Way and then travel past Creekcrest Circle, Ansbrough Drive, Westchester Way, Karen Rae Court, and conclude at Orelle Creek Court.
Arriving before 9 p.m. is recommended to ensure displays are still lit, as some residents turn off their lights overnight.
