The 35th annual Kiwanis Club crab feed fundraiser will be a drive-thru event in Citrus Heights this year to comply with state guidelines to curb the spread of COVID-19.
Kiwanis social media chairwoman Katie Escajeda said the event will take place at the Citrus Heights Community Center, on Jan. 30 at 4 p.m. The event will feature a live auction, DJ, and raffle prizes, according to the announcement.
“Unfortunately, the COVID-19 Pandemic has impacted our ability to hold this event indoors,” Escajeda said. “In accordance with local and state regulations, we will still have our Annual Crab Feed in 2021 – but we will do so safely and responsibly.”
Dinner tickets are $50 and include Dungeness crab, coleslaw, and a dessert, according to an announcement posted January 5. Tickets and auction items such as beer and wine are available through the organization’s website. A delivery option is also available for an extra $20.
Proceeds from the fundraiser will benefit local service projects, and the event is held in conjunction with Soroptimist International of Citrus Heights.
“In spite of the difficult circumstances, the Kiwanis Club of Citrus Heights has continued to support its Key Club members with scholarships, support our local Food Bank, support the Kiwanis Family House, and donate to our sister organizations,” Escajeda said. “In 2020, we successfully held our annual golf tournament fundraiser, cleaned up at the Kiwanis Family House, and provided funds, groceries, and support to our local food bank.”
The deadline to purchase tickets is Monday, Jan. 25, at 11:59 p.m. More information about the upcoming crab feed fundraiser can be found on the Kiwanis Club’s website.
