The suspect, David Price, was taken into custody during the April 20 operation. Price is accused of firing from a vehicle as it pulled alongside another vehicle during an April 2 drive-by shooting in Stockton, ABC10 reported. A 9-year-old girl was struck in the exchange, according to the report. Police said the girl was in stable condition at the time.
Officers with the U.S. Marshals, Stockton Police, Sacramento Sheriff, and Citrus Heights police were present for the hours-long operation at Summerfield Place Apartments, located on Kingswood Drive near Sunrise Bouelvard. Police also recovered five handguns, according to a press release from the Stockton Police department.
Citrus Heights Police Sgt. Seth Cimino told The Sentinel at the scene that the department was providing traffic control as other agencies conducted the operation.
Authorities began the operation about noon, according to Cimino. Kingswood Drive was also closed for most of Wednesday afternoon, forcing the cancellation of a Citrus Heights Chamber of Commerce event scheduled at RCMI Executive Suites.
