Sentinel staff report–
Firefighters on Friday responded to the scene of an early morning house fire off Auburn Boulevard on Cedar Drive.
Around 12:50 a.m. residents over a mile away could hear sirens, as multiple Metro Fire units were dispatched to the 7500 block of Cedar Drive. The agency said on social media that crews arrived to find heavy fire coming from the front of the residence.
Working smoke detectors were credited with alerting the home’s six occupants, who were all safely evacuated prior to Metro Fire arriving on scene. No injuries were reported.
Photos shared by Metro Fire on social media show damage around the home’s front entrance and another window. The cause of fire is still under investigation.
Fire crews were also dispatched to another report of fire on the 7700 block of Greenback Lane just after 1 a.m. Friday, but Metro Fire Captain Parker Wilbourn said the incident turned out to be “towels on a counter.”
