A section of Old Auburn Road near Sunrise Boulevard was shut down in both directions Saturday evening after a motorcyclist collided with a vehicle, resulting in life-threatening injuries.
Police Sgt. Dave Jones told The Sentinel at the scene that the collision involved the fault of both parties, noting that the motorcyclist was speeding and the other vehicle was making a u-turn. The collision occurred around 4:55 p.m. on July 2, near Holy Family Catholic Church.
A man who was working a fireworks booth in the parking lot of Holy Family told The Sentinel he heard the collision and helped a police officer pull the motorcyclist out of the roadway. The motorcyclist was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries, Jones said.
Due to the severity of injuries involved an extensive investigation of the scene was conducted by the Citrus Heights Police Department’s Traffic Unit, police said in a subsequent news release about the incident. The roadway was closed for around four hours.
