Sentinel staff report– Decorated yards and Christmas lights are again on display in various neighborhoods all across Citrus Heights, as residents celebrate the season with lights and other decor.
For those looking for some of the best Christmas light displays in Citrus Heights, here’s some of the top displays in town — including several new locations for 2023.
Karen Rae Ct. A home at the corner of Wes Way and Karen Rae Court is lit up with creative displays spanning the entire corner and both sides of the street. Displays include colorful lighting on fences, lawn areas, and trees, along with a large mural covering the home’s garage door. The home won an award in the city’s light contest in 2022.
Orelle Creek Ct. The annual displays on Orelle Creek Court are again lit up, where nearly every home on the entire street is annually decorated with thousands of multicolored lights, candy canes, manger scenes and more. The dead-end court is located off Old Auburn Road towards the Roseville border and draws a significant crowd of light-seekers each year.
Moss Oak Avenue. Just a few blocks away from Orelle Creek Court is a home at 8246 Moss Oak Ave., which features numerous inflatables, surfing Santa, snow-blowing, and thousands of lights. The home attracted the attention of GoodDay Sacramento this year, which also ran a feature on the home in October when the home was decorated with a Halloween theme. (See CBS video)
Envoy Way. A home near the Marketplace at Birdcage at 7798 Envoy Way has been nominated for a Griswold Award in the city’s lights contest, for the brightest display of shining lights. The home is on a dead-end court and features a prominent message of “joy” and other displays.
Ansbrough Drive. A home at the corner of Ansbrough Drive and Winlock Avenue has decor and lights taking up an entire corner on a quiet residential street. The yard features huge inflatable holiday characters, motorized decor, tons of lights, and a large “Merry Christmas” sign mounted atop an inflatable arch. A Facebook page has also been set up for the display. (See page)
Creekcrest Circle. Lighting displays along the 6300 block of Creekcrest Circle include inflatables, lights, angels, and more at several homes. The displays are viewable on the half-circle loop off Oakbrook Drive, near Mercy San Juan Medical Center. One of the largest manger scene displays in the city can also be viewed nearby at Celtic Cross Presbyterian Church, located at 5839 Dewey Drive.
The city’s official tree can also be seen lit up outside City Hall, at 6360 Fountain Square Drive. A home at 6617 Golden Rain Ct., just off Sunrise Boulevard, is also worth a drive by.
Arriving before 9 p.m. is recommended to ensure displays are still lit, as some residents turn off their lights overnight.
Update: From Dec. 16-19, the city is accepting online votes for the best-decorated homes, with seven award categories this year. Votes can be cast on the city’s website.
