Note: This letter is in response to Mayor Bret Daniels’ announcement of resignation from the City Council, made last Tuesday. Daniels to resign from Citrus Heights City Council, won’t finish term.
By Lynn Avery, Citrus Heights—
My husband (now deceased) and I moved here in 1990– (34) years ago. We have (had) been very active in local politics. It saddens me that one of our own has chosen to leave City Politics. I have known Bret during all those years and also supported him through his ups and downs. He has managed to rise above petty judgment and gossip and again risen to become Mayor. I have followed his opinions and voting on many City actions and have (shuddered at times) at the non-support from the Council.
As a comment regarding City Planning: It appears that it’s more important to develop any TINY piece of inappropriate of ground (for tax revenue) than to develop an attractive inviting city. Anyone would have to admit we have schizophrenic dissociated areas without connection. Oh well — thank you Bret for trying, and I hope you are going to resettle in a welcoming town (with a center).
