Residents of Citrus Heights will soon have the opportunity to nominate local community members for a “Chip-In” Hall of Fame award.
The city recently announced on social media the launch of the award, designed to recognize local community volunteers who go “above and beyond.”
The nomination period begins March 12, and honorees will be recognized throughout the year, with a special celebration on April 23 during Volunteer Appreciation Week.
“Whether through beautification efforts, acts of kindness, or volunteerism, we want to celebrate those who selflessly give back,” the city said.
In January 2024, the city launched a Volunteer Hub in an effort to foster more community engagement. The platform facilitates service groups, businesses, and organizations in posting volunteer opportunities for community events and projects, and serves as a bridge between volunteers and organizers.
Following the Volunteer Hub launch, the city also launched an Adopt a Trail initiative, which stemmed from a 2024 Strategic Planning Meeting goal. Residents who want to “adopt a trail” can sign up for time slots online and pick up a trail kit of useful supplies for trail clean-up at City Hall.
Residents can find other opportunities to volunteer in city projects such as community clean-ups, tree plantings, and other beautification efforts. The Volunteer Hub can be found online at citrusheightsvolunteers.net.
