This May is filled with community events, outdoor activities, fundraisers and opportunities for residents to connect. From concerts and bike rides to charity events and Memorial Day ceremonies, Citrus Heights offers a wide variety of ways to get involved.
Backyard Bash Band Series: Sunrise MarketPlace will host its final of three spring outdoor concerts on Friday, May 1 at 6 p.m. The free outdoor event will take place behind Jamba Juice at the Marketplace at Birdcage shopping center, offering live music and backyard games, plus a beer garden.

Northridge Little League Challenger Division game: Northridge Little Leage is hosting their first Challenger Division game in two years on May 2 at Brooktree Park in Citrus Heights. The Challenger Division is a little league baseball team comprised of kids with disabilities. The game begins at 4 p.m. For more information, visit the little league’s website.

Golf and Poker Tournament: On May 3 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., residents can participate in a combined golf and poker tournament hosted by Stones Gambling Hall. The golf tournament will be held May 3rd at Diamond Oaks Golf Course from 9:30 -11:30 a.m., located at 349 Diamond Oaks Rd, in Roseville. There is a $150 buy in.
A corresponding poker tournament will be held at Stones Gambling Hall at 5 p.m. Players can receive extra poker chips during golf tournament.

Veterans Walk in the Park: Sacramento Post Acute is hosting its 2nd annual veterans walk in the park on May 15 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Every dollar raised directly benefits local Veterans and their families organizers say. The event will feature food, raffle prizes, and family friendly games and activities. For more information, visit the event page.

Community Bike Ride: The city is hosting a guided bike ride on May 7 from 3 to 4:30 p.m., beginning at C-Bar-C Park. The all-ages ride will follow along the Arcade Cripple Creek Trail, with a stop at Tempo Park before returning to C-Bar-C Park. Participants are encouraged to bring a bike, helmet and water. History of Water Presentation: The Citrus Heights Historical Society will host a presentation on the history of water in Citrus Heights on May 7 at 6 p.m. at the Citrus Heights Event Center. for more information, visit the city’s calendar.

Workout with a Recruiter: The Citrus Heights Police Department will host a workout session on May 7 from 6 to 7 p.m. at Van Maren Park. The event offers residents a chance to learn about careers in law enforcement while participating in a guided workout. CHPD requests interested parties to register here prior to the event.

Charity Fun Run: The Rotary Club of Citrus Heights will host a charity fun run on May 9 at 8 a.m. at Tempo Park, with proceeds going toward helping the Habitat for Humanity Sayonara Drive permanent housing project. For more information, visit the event page.

Tools of the Trade: The City of Citrus Heights is hosting its annual Tools of the Trade education and career fair on Thursday, May 14 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Van Maren Park. Community Blood Drive: A blood drive hosted by Vitalant and the City of Citrus Heights will take place May 15 from 12 to 6 p.m. at Citrus Heights City Hall. The event was organized to help Councilmember Tim Schaefer, who is currently battling cancer, and all others in need of blood. Donors will be entered into a drawing for a chance to win $10,000. Big Day of Service: On May 16, volunteers from Citrus Heights, Fair Oaks and Orangevale will gather for a regional day of service. Sunrise Little League Memorial Day Vendor Fair: A multi-day event will take place May 22–25, featuring a baseball tournament, food trucks and vendors. Festivities run from 5 to 9 p.m. on May 22, 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. on May 23–24, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. on May 25.

Memorial Day Ceremonies: Several ceremonies will be held on May 25 to honor fallen service members. Sylvan Cemetery will host a ceremony at 11 a.m. featuring speakers and a choir. Calvary Cemetery and Funeral Center will hold a Mass from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a patriotic presentation. East Lawn Cemetery will also host a ceremony beginning at 10 a.m.
Memorial Day Concert: Following the ceremonies, a free concert will be held from 12 to 1 p.m. at the Veterans Community Center, in tribute to fallen heroes. For more information, visit the Veteran’s Community Center calendar of events.

Mesa Verde Football Texas Hold’em Fundraiser: The Mesa Verde High School football program will host its annual poker fundraiser on May 30 at the Citrus Heights Event Center. The event begins at 5 p.m., with sponsorship opportunities available. For more information, visit the city’s calendar.
