The fourth annual Stars and Stripes Celebration had an estimated 6,000 people in attendance, city officials say.

The celebration was held at Van Maren Park on Saturday, June 27, and featured live music by Big Crush, a variety of food trucks, and a Kids Zone with hands-on activities for kids, hosted by Sunrise Recreation and Park District and Citrus Heights Police Activities League. The celebration also featured a professional aerial fireworks display to cap off the evening.

The city estimates that the event this year cost $73,000, including live entertainment, family activities, fireworks show and associated event production needs

“The city secured $10,000 in sponsorship support from local partners, helping offset event costs and making it possible to continue offering this free community celebration,” the city said in a statement.

In addition to sponsorships, several trade sponsors provided in-kind services that further reduced costs, the city said.

An estimated 7,000-7,500 attendees have filled the park in each of the last two years, according to city officials, which is nearly double the estimated attendance in 2023.

Van Maren Park is located at 6601 Thalia Way.
