Two juveniles were taken into custody, with one still outstanding, following a foot pursuit involving Citrus Heights Police and Sacramento County Sheriff Deputies on Sunday evening.
Citrus Heights Police said Monday that officers were alerted to a stolen vehicle in the city just before 6:30 p.m. Sunday night. After following at a distance, the officers in pursuit waited for air support to arrive before attempting to contact the driver and passengers of the suspected stolen vehicle.
While officers were awaiting air support, the vehicle stopped at Antelope Road and Tupelo Drive and three juvenile passengers foot bailed from the vehicle in multiple directions, police said, leaving the stolen vehicle in the roadway.
Citrus Heights Police along with Sacramento County Sherriff Deputies flooded the area, created a perimeter, and were able to apprehend two of the suspects, including the driver of the vehicle. A third suspect is still at large, police said, adding that they are aware of his identity.
Because they are juvenile suspects, the police department is not able to release the names of the individuals in custody.
The stolen vehicle was towed from the scene. Police say there is no threat to the public and the investigation remains ongoing.
