Voters will have another opportunity to meet candidates running for local office during a candidate forum scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 13, at Foundation Christian Church in Citrus Heights.

The forum will be hosted by Citrus Heights Neighborhood Area Seven Eight Nine (CHASEN) and will feature candidates for Citrus Heights City Council District 2 and San Juan Water District Division 1. The event begins at 7 p.m.

CHASEN president Bill Shirley chose to bring the candidates from these two districts together specifically because residents who live in CHASEN fall within those specific districts of the City Council and San Juan Water District.

Representing the City Council race for District 2 will be incumbent and mayor MariJane Lopez-Taff and challenger Charles Stone. The San Juan Water District Division 1 race will feature George Machado and Mike Nishimura.

The evening will begin with light refreshments at 6:30 p.m., with the forum scheduled to begin at 7 p.m., organizers say. Candidates will have opportunities to introduce themselves and explain why they are running for office. They will also answer questions concerning the city, local neighborhoods and the community’s water provider.

Residents are also invited to submit questions for the candidates ahead of the forum. Questions or concerns may be emailed to [email protected].

The event will be held at Foundation Christian Church, located at 7800 Wonder St. in Citrus Heights during CHASEN’s regular monthly meeting.

The forum is an opportunity for residents to hear directly from candidates about their priorities and positions on issues that could affect the city and local water service.

The City Council District 2 and San Juan Water District Division 1 races are among the local contests appearing on the ballot this November.
