Your Harvest festival and Trunk or Treats list for this October

With Halloween around the corner, The Sentinel has compiled a list of upcoming harvest festivals, trunk or treats and other Halloween-themed events taking place in the last half of October.

Harvest Festivals and more:

Sunrise MarketPlace will host a Movie Night and Harvest Festival Friday, Oct. 16, from 5 to 10 p.m. at Sunrise Mall near the former Sears building, located at the corner of Sunrise Blvd. and Macy Plaza Drive. The event is free and will feature vendors, food trucks, kids activities such as face painting, pumpkin decorating, and a dog costume contest. The movie Hotel Transylvania will be shown at dusk.

The Citrus Heights Community Marching Band will host its annual Howl-O-Ween Parade and Car Show Saturday, Oct. 17, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Rusch Park. The parade will begin at 9 a.m., at the corner of Grand Oaks Blvd. and Rosswood, and travel down Grand Oaks Blvd., turn on Oak Forest, and end at Rusch Park.

Family Learning Lab & Co-School will host a Mystery Masquerade Ball Saturday, Oct. 17, beginning at 6:30 p.m. The family-oriented event will include costumes, dancing, games, a mystery escape room, a dessert bar, prizes and other activities. Tickets are $24 per person.

Mesa Verde High School is hosting a harvest festival and trunk or treat, to help raise money for its cheer and football teams. The event takes place on Oct. 17 from 4 to 8 p.m., and will feature vendors, a trunk or treat, and a corn hole tournament. Mesa Verde is located at 7501 Carriage Drive.

Campfire Haunt, a community haunted walkthrough event featuring multiple Halloween-themed attractions, is slated to happen every Saturday night throughout October from 6:30 to 10 p.m. with the largest event occurring Oct. 24. The community event is free, and as well, firefighters will be out collecting donations for the Firefighters Burn Institute. The haunted walk is located at 6592 Campfire Way in Citrus Heights. Friends Church will be hosting a harvest festival and trunk or treat on Sunday, Oct. 25 from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The event will include trunk or treating, face painting, and other games and kids’ activities. Friends Church is located at 7070 Woodmore Oaks Drive.

Texas Roadhouse in Citrus Heights will host its annual fall festival and trunk-or-treat Tuesday, Oct. 27, from 5 to 9 p.m. The event will feature community vendors and fall activities. For more information, visit the event page here. Texas Roadhouse is located at 6309 Sunrise Blvd.

Skycrest Elementary will be hosting a fall harvest carnival festival with kids activities and games on Friday, Oct. 16 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Skycrest is located at 5641 Mariposa Ave. For more information, contact the school by phone.

Trunk or Treats: 

Several schools, churches and community organizations are hosting Trunk or Treats, giving families and communities a great opportunity to come together and stock up on candy in a safe and family friendly environment.

Citrus Heights Police Department, 6315 Fountain Square Drive

Wheen: Thursday, October 29, at 5:00 p.m.

Details: Decorated police vehicles, costumed participants, food trucks, and an opportunity to give to a canned food drive for Sunrise Christian Food Ministry will also be taking place at the event.

Heights Church, 6550 Sylvan Rd.

When: Saturday, Oct. 31, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Details: There will be hot dogs, as well as family friendly activities along with a traditional trunk or treat throughout the parking lot.

St. Mark’s Lutheran Church, 7869 Kingswood Drive

When: Friday, October 30, from 6 to 8 p.m.

Details: family-friendly parking lot trunk or treating with costumes and candy. Free and open to the public.

Celtic Cross Presbyterian Church, 5839 Dewey Drive

When: Oct 25, from 3 to 6 p.m.
