Truck clips internet line in Citrus Heights, causing outages
A tractor trailer carrying a crane clipped a Comcast fiber optic line on Monday, causing thousands to be without internet, The Sacramento Bee and other outlets reported. Antelope Road near Zenith Drive was closed for several hours following the collision while repairs were made. (See SacBee story)
Fundraiser for local businessman continues to grow
Following the publication of a story on The Sentinel last Sunday, Fox40 reported Wednesday that community donations are continuing to flood in to support Texas Roadhouse managing partner Joseph Sevier, whose 1-year-old son was recently diagnosed with multiple brain tumors. Sevier is known for his support for community events and organizations. The fundraiser had topped $34,000 as of Saturday. (Read more)

The Sacramento Business Journal reported Thursday on a webinar attended by at least one Citrus Heights city official where leaders discussed mall redevelopment opportunities, looking to a redevelopment project underway in Plano, Texas, involving a project similar in size to the Sunrise Mall. Councilman says there’s a communications break in city hall Councilman Tim Schaefer said during Thursday’s City Council meeting that he learned about the city receiving $7.8 million in federal funds through an article in The Sentinel last weekend and expressed “concern” that he had not heard about it from city staff. Schaefer said he and Councilman Bret Daniels feel they are being intentionally left out of discussions and updates, noting his rocky relationship with the city manager. Mayor Steve Miller replied that “the phone works both ways,” implying Schaefer should be more proactive in getting updates. (See council meeting recording on Youtube)
