Where there were once four jewelers and a watch and jewelry repair store, the Sunrise Mall is now down to just two jewelry stores. One recently combined with another, Fast Fix watch repair moved across the street in 2023, and one most recently vacated in October.
Infinity Jewelers officially closed at the end of October, according to a Sunrise Mall security guard. When Sentinel staff visited the mall on Black Friday, the storefront was dark and vacant. In the first week of December, mall security said store staff returned briefly to gather the last of their merchandise.
The closure adds to a growing list of stores that have left Sunrise Mall in 2025 alone, with three additional stores also leaving at the end of October.
Macy’s Men’s and Women’s and Hot Topic both closed in March. Spencer’s closed in April, and Mark’s Hallmark shut down in July.
Most independent businesses have held on despite national retailers departing, although Masterboy Streetwear also closed earlier in the spring.
Fewer than fifteen businesses remain inside the mall. Two business owners told The Sentinel they are constantly battling rumors of demolition or an impending shutdown. Perfumes Luxe owner Kevin Cadinha said this holiday season will be a make or break period for his store, but for now he plans to stay open and is in a wait and see holding pattern.
JCPenney remains open and continues to operate as the last major anchor store inside Sunrise Mall. The retailer has placed flags and banners around the property to make sure shoppers know they are still open for business.
