A new Brazilian restaurant appears to be coming soon to the Greenback Square shopping center in Citrus Heights.

A banner displaying “Coming Soon” on the front of 8031 Greenback Ln. indicates that Heights of Brazil Restaurant has plans open in the former Wasabi House restaurant space. The reason for the sushi bar’s closure is unknown.

The last review left for the Asian restaurant on Yelp was from July 2025, and the last social media post from the company was from 2024. Yelp’s website indicates that users of Yelp have reported the restaurant closed, but no date of closure was indicated. Unverified reports from visitors on local social media pages and on Reddit suggest that the restaurant closed within the last few months.

The Greenback Square shopping center is located on Greenback Lane between Sunrise Vista Drive and Fair Oaks Boulevard, blocks away from Sunrise Mall, where a new Sports Center has been proposed.

The retail center has multiple vacancies, according to online leasing materials, which show nine vacant spaces out of over 20 suites, not including the one soon to be filled by the new restaurant. Available spaces range from 900 to 4,700 square feet.

Heights of Brazil will fill a 2,400-square-foot suite, leasing materials show. Representatives of the restaurant and commercial real estate brokers representing the shopping center were not able to be reached for comment.

The Greenback Square retail center is anchored by Starbucks, The Cave, and Sherwin Williams, a childcare center, and also includes other small businesses, such as a nail salon, a hearing aid store, a wine consultant, and two other restaurants.

The new restaurant does not yet have a website and no other details on the company were available.
