Grocery Outlet is hosting its annual Independence from Hunger food drive throughout the month of July. Each locally owned store will donate funds raised to local nonprofit food pantries.
Grocery Outlet located on Greenback Lane and Auburn Boulevard donates their funds raised to the Sunrise Christian Food Ministry every year. In the last three years, the north Citrus Heights Grocery Outlet raised over $43,000, and this year so far in July, store owner Sara Wheeler says the store has raised $18,000. This year’s goal is $25,000.
The south Citrus Heights Grocery Outlet, located at 5409 Sunrise Blvd. has raised almost $1,000 so far, and has a goal of $2,500. Store owner Stephanie Ashworth said she and her husband Greg are very excited about joining in the annual fundraising event. This year, the south Citrus Heights Grocery Outlet is raising money for two nonprofits, including Sunrise Chrisitan Food Ministry in Citrus Heights, and Harvest Hands Food Pantry in Fair Oaks.
Customers wishing to donate can still do so through July 31. There are three ways to participate.
Give $5, get $5. Customers who donate $5 or more in a single transaction in-store or online will receive a coupon for $5 off a future purchase of $25 or more.
Pick up a pre-made bag; Customers can also grab a pre-made bag of food filled with an assortment of groceries and then place it in a collection bin at the front of the store.
Monetary donations: Customers can make monetary donations at any register inside each of the Grocery Outlets.
North Grocery Outlet is located at 6059 Greenback Ln.
South Grocery Outlet is located at 5409 Sunrise Blvd.
