A family has lost their home due to a housefire in Citrus Heights that occurred Wednesday morning.
A home on Blue Springs Way in Citrus Heights caught fire just before 9 a.m. Wednesday morning. Sacramento Metro Fire crews say the blaze was an attic fire. Citrus Heights Police Department radio traffic indicated the fire could be seen in the backyard of the home underneath the porch, spreading rapidly, and that neighbors were helping to put out the fire with hoses.
Witnesses shared online videos of a smoke-filled sky as the fire engulfed the home.
Members of a local online group for lost, found and loose animals, say a family cat has been reported missing since the house fire Wednesday. The family pet was known to be an outdoor cat and was outside at the time of the fire, but has not been seen since.
The feline is described as a Tortiseshell female cat. Neighbors are encouraged to keep an eye out for the missing cat so that it can be possibly reunited with family members.
All occupants of the home were reported to be out of the house at the time of the blaze. No injuries were reported. The fire was contained and remains under investigation.
