Emergency personnel were on scene Friday morning cleaning up a hazardous chemical spill at the intersection of Fair Oaks Boulevard and Greenback Lane.
Sacramento Metro Fire along with Citrus Heights Police and California Highway Patrol officers responded to reports of a hazardous materials incident that occurred in the street at Greenback Lane and Fair Oaks Boulevard. Crews arrived to find that one gallon of Muriatic Acid, a chemical used in swimming pools, had spilled, Metro Fire said.
The Sentinel reached out to Citrus Heights Police for further information, but the Police Department directed questions regarding the incident to California Highway Patrol. A California Highway Patrol public information officer was not available to speak to media before press time.
Citrus Heights Police radio traffic indicated that there were more gallons of chemicals reportedly in the roadway, but that they were all determined to be sealed.
Metro Fire said midmorning crews worked with law enforcement and EMD to clean up the spill. Traffic was redirected away from the intersection while cleanup took place. No evacuations were made, fire officials said.
