Active Shooter seminar for local managers, leaders sells out

Sentinel staff report–
An upcoming active shooter and workplace violence seminar for area managers and leaders has already sold out, following the same trend as a prior workshop in Citrus Heights that also quickly sold out.

The free three-hour seminar is put on by the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and is scheduled for Jan. 22, 2020, at the Mosaic Law Center in Sacramento. An Eventbrite listing shows the event is sold out as of Jan. 1.

Sacramento Black Rifle, a gun shop on Greenback Lane, previously held an Active Shooter Training at the Citrus Heights Community Center in 2018 that also sold out.

An event listing for the upcoming event says the goal of the workshop is “awareness, prevention and surviving violence.” Those attending will be taught “risk factors, warning signs, and best practices to help the community be aware and better understand potential hazards in their surroundings and reduce the likelihood of a tragic event,” according to the listing.

The upcoming event was promoted on the sheriff’s department’s website, with an invitation calling “all local managers, administrators, board members, and leaders in the greater Sacramento area” to attend.

Organizers did not immediately respond to an email request on Tuesday seeking comment on whether additional events are planned.
