Sentinel staff report–
The City of Citrus Heights last week launched a new website that allows visitors to share, vote and comment on ideas for re-inventing Sunrise Mall.
As of Jan. 11, the “idea wall” at www.sunrisetomorrow.net already had more than 30 ideas posted publicly on the wall, along with replies and up-or-down votes posted on each.
Popular comments with double-digit “likes” include suggestions to turn the existing discount Regal theater into a “new, first-run, high-tech theater,” and bring in a local brewery. Photos, which can be posted on the wall, have also attracted engagement.
The city says ideas posted on the wall will help shape the city’s Specific Plan, which will guide future development at Sunrise Mall and is currently being drafted with the help of an outside consultant, Gensler.
The city says all comments posted on the wall “will be documented and shared back with the City Council at future public meetings.” An upcoming public workshop will be held at the former Sears building at Sunrise Mall on Feb. 11, from 5-7 p.m.
Those interested in posting an idea or viewing ideas shared by others can visit www.sunrisetomorrow.net.
