A new Big Lots store is now open on the northern end of Citrus Heights, at 8525 Auburn Blvd., located in a renovated portion of a massive 90,000-square-foot building on Auburn Boulevard that was once home to Kmart.
On Thursday, a Big Lots spokesperson confirmed with The Sentinel that a previously announced grand opening and official ribbon cutting at the store is still planned to happen later this month on April 26. She said while stores typically set a fixed opening date, they will still open their doors as soon as they are able to, depending on construction and other factors.
The Ohio-based Big Lots, Inc., has over 1,400 stores nationwide that feature a wide range of products, including electronics, food and home furniture.
The Citrus Heights store is currently hiring a full-time assistant store manager and at least one part-time stocker/store associate, according to listings on careers.biglots.com.
As previously reported, Studio Move Grill is also planning to open a new theater in a section of the old Kmart building, next to Big Lots. The 49,000-square-foot theater will take up roughly half the old building and is currently being renovated.

Smart & Final, located in the same shopping center as the new Big Lots store, recently announced it will be closing its doors on April 14.
