Citrus Heights police ask council to approve ‘military equipment’ use policy
The Police Department will ask the City Council on Thursday to adopt a new policy authorizing the use of “military equipment” by the local department. In a staff report, police say the term “military equipment”, as defined in newly passed legislation (AB 481), does not necessarily indicate equipment that has been used by the military. Items included in the draft policy are: “unmanned aerial or ground vehicles, armored vehicles, command and control vehicles, pepper balls, less lethal shotguns, less lethal 40mm projectile launchers and flashbangs,” as well as other items.
