With high temperatures soaring over 100 for several days in a row, the City of Citrus Heights has established the lobby of the police station as a dedicated cooling center.
The lobby will be open from 12-8 p.m. on any day that reaches over 100 degrees, including July 4, according to the city. The Police Department confirmed with The Sentinel that dogs are not allowed in the lobby during cooling center hours.
The Police Department is located at 6315 Fountain Square Drive.
Sacramento Regional Transit District will provide free rides to cooling centers in Citrus Heights and throughout the Sacramento Region. A flyer posted by the district includes the location of all cooling centers in the region. Residents can also dial 211 to find out information regarding cooling centers in the area.
Citrus Heights Police Activities League (PAL) is hosting a free swim on Friday, July 5, from 5-7 p.m. at Rusch Park’s public pool. For more information, visit PAL’s event page here.
Rusch Park’s public pool is open for public swimming Tuesday through Friday from 1-3:30 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 1-4:30 p.m. According to representatives from Sunrise Recreation and Parks District, pool hours will be extended on July 4 by one hour, from 1-4:30 p.m. The pool is closed on Mondays.
